Do empty(no code) start routines throw error while transporting?

Hi All,

I have come across a transport error(Dev to QA) which points at a start routine. But there were no specific code in it and it has only global definition. There were no syntax error too.

We raised this issue to SAP.Got reply from SAP support executive that we should remove that empty start routine in my transformation before transporting it. It worked actually.

I have checked in Production also where we have the same empty start routine(Meaning the transformation has already got transported successfully).

I have 2 doubts here:

1.How an empty routine creates problem here?

2.Here the start routine consists a global definition which hasn't used anywhere in the transformation(then only i have deleted the start routine).

If the global definition has been used somewhere, then how could we remove it?

Please help me to understand.

Regards
