Simplest and recommended way to do this is to grant VIEW rights at Object level only,
So, on the Folder "Marketing Universes" - Right Click -User security
Add the desired Group and Add Assign Security - Advanced - Add /remove Rights
In General Scroll to "" VIEW OBJECTS " and Check the Grant Radio Button, and In the same row, you will see 2 check boxes, uncheck the second one.(i.e Do not apply to sub objects)
By doing this you will give rights to the Group only on Marketing Folder, the user will be able to see the Marketing Folder but not the contents, .
Now, YOu just have to give View rights on the universe on which you need to show to this set of users, .
Breaking the Inheritance Method would not be recommend because , it will add an over head to you in future .Suppose in future you add 10 universe to this folder, then you will have to manually uncheck the Inheritance on all of them to hide them from un intended users.
