Hi Chris,
This is a wide spread phenomena and this sometimes hurts how consultants are looked upon... Many novice consultants or "experts with limited knowledge" as I like to call them, are given tasks that they haven't done in their life.
Just couple days ago, I was helping out a friend who was given a task to manage Time Evaluation for a company with over 4000 employees. Their schema was very complicated and roughly about 7,000 to 10,000 lines of code. This consulting company (one of big 5) did not have a Time expert at client site so they put a PA/OM/BN expert in charge of Time Schema...
To chime with you, Yes, at least, I hope that the poster has gone through the IMG steps to see what sort of configuration options are available...
Krishna, Its hard to learn from someone's configuration document... simple reason is that thay may have different plans and processes around how Benafits are administered compared to your comapny/client.
Best way is to work with a consultant as their shadow and see how things work... You may be an expert in other modules but if you are in charge of modules that you do not know, perhaps some reading on help.sap.com and various other blogs will help.
Good Luck.
